Agricultural Operations Regulation Reference Guide

The purpose of the Agricultural Operations Regulation Reference Guide (French, PDF, 1.8 MB) is to translate each of the Regulation’s requirements into technical terms and to popularize them. Its intended readership primarily includes agricultural stakeholders (producers, agronomists, technicians and other actors who provide services in this field of activity). However, it will also be of interest to readers interested in improving their understanding of the constraints that apply to agricultural operations and their advisers. Please note that only the Regulation has force of law.

This publication sets out the regulatory text of each section in italics, followed by explanatory notes that describe the regulatory requirements in technical terms.

The Agricultural Operations Regulation Reference Guide was updated in December, 2016. The main changes relate to explanatory notes for sections 2, 3, 4, 28.1, 28.2, 31, 50.3 and 50.4, as well as for Schedule I. The modified or added passages are highlighted in yellow.

A more recent update was made in April, 2017, which included changes to sections 3, 8, 17, 39, 42, 43, 43.1, 43.5, 44 and 44.4, as well as Schedules I, VI and VII. The passages that were modified or added in this update are highlighted in blue.

More detailed information on the changes can be found in Faits saillants de la mise à jour des notes explicatives du Guide de référence du Règlement sur les exploitations agricoles (REA) (French, PDF, 294 KB).
