Québec, May 14th, 2018 – The Minister of Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, Isabelle Melançon, applauds the decision of the Government of Nova Scotia to engage the services of the Western Climate Initiative, Inc. (WCI, Inc.), a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the joint management of the cap-and-trade systems for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission allowances of its members.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Nova Scotia to WCI, Inc. The province has thus taken a major step toward implementing its cap-and-trade system for GHG allowances. We look forward to this new collaboration and remain committed to sharing our knowledge with Nova Scotia and other governments. It is through such collaboration that we can make a difference when it comes to climate change.”
Isabelle Melançon, Minister of Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change

WCI, Inc.’s mission is to provide administrative and technical services to U.S. states and Canadian provinces and territories in developing and implementing their respective cap-and-trade systems for greenhouse gas emission allowances.
