The thirteenth Québec-California carbon market auction is being held today

Québec, November 14, 2017. – A greenhouse gas emission units auction is being held today. This is the thirteenth joint auction held jointly by Québec and California since their respective carbon markets were linked on January 1, 2014.
 
The Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC) will hold this auction in conjunction with the California Air Resources Board (ARB).
 
The joint auction will take place between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. EST. In total, 79,548,286 emission units for the Current Auction and 9,723,500 emission units for the Advance Auction (2020 vintage) will be put on sale at a minimum price of $17.21 CAD ($13.57 USD). Bidders from both Québec and California will be able to submit bids for the purchase of emission units, enabling them to reach their environmental objectives set under the greenhouse gas cap-and-trade system.
                                                                                 
Quick fact:

The results of the auction (the quantity of emission units sold and final prices) and the identities of participating bidders will be posted on November 21, 2017 on the MDDELCC Web site.
