Integrated water resources management at watershed level is an ongoing process based on seeking a concensus working in cooperation with all decision makers, users and civil society. Its purpose is to plan and better harmonize measures pertaining to the protection and use of water resources from a sustainable development standpoint.

Transboundary watershed management

Québec’s hydrographic system is linked to those of several neighbouring provinces and states. The Québec government, through agreements, works with a number of partners, including Vermont, Ontario, the eight Great Lakes states as well as the federal government to ensure the integrated and sustainable management of water within its territory.
