Terms of Protection of Intellectual Property Rights

The information on this site is the property of the Québec government, which holds exclusive intellectual property rights to it. Unless otherwise indicated, these rights apply to all documents, data, compilations and other works produced, published or disseminated by the government, regardless of whether the documents are official or administrative texts (statutes and regulations, annual reports, brochures, etc.) and regardless of whether they are produced by government employees, a government department, a public body or a third party having transferred its rights to the government or granted it a user licence. These rights apply to copyright, trademarks and patents, among other things.

For example, compilations of data and information on government sites are works protected by copyright, just as multimedia, literary, musical and artistic works are.

Unless otherwise indicated and barring exceptions provided for in the relevant statutes, third party use of objects covered by such rights is permitted provided authorization, permission or a licence or grant of interest is obtained from the rights holder. This is the case, for example, with reproduction, storage or memorization for a purpose other than those strictly permitted.

Anyone wishing to reproduce, download, store, translate, adapt, publish or present in public sounds, texts or images, in any form or by any means whatsoever, or to communicate by telecommunication any document, information or other content on this site must obtain prior authorization from the Québec government. Such authorization may be obtained by submitting a request to the central clearing house of the Service de la gestion des droits d’auteur of Les Publications du Québec.

In addition, when using these works, broadly defined, removing the name of the rights owner or modifying the contents by addition, deletion or otherwise constitutes infringement of moral rights.

Integrity of the information

The Québec government guarantees the integrity of the information at the precise moment when it appears on the site, not subsequently. It guarantees no document, information or other content once it has been altered or modified in any way whatsoever, after downloading or not. Moreover, in the event of a discrepancy between the official text and the contents of the site, the official text takes precedence.
